Custom WordPress development with, manageable systems.

The site needed to move from Kentico to WordPress without feeling visually different to returning users. That meant recreating existing layouts, menus, switchers, and page interactions while adapting them into a new CMS environment.

A major focus of the project was improving how the client uploaded, organized, and controlled access to class documents. The previous workflow required outside help to update class information, so I wanted to create a simpler WordPress-based system that allowed the client to manage courses, lessons, and documents with less technical support.

Some parts of the original site had complex behavior, including a main menu that needed to communicate with page-level switcher menus. The switcher menu itself combined accordion-style sections with nested switcher content inside each accordion option. Rebuilding this required a mix of JavaScript and PHP so the different menu systems and content areas could work together properly in WordPress.

The bigger backend challenge was the class document workflow. Each class needed its own protected area with documents that could be uploaded, updated, hidden, shown, and separated by class. Each class also needed access controlled by a unique username and password that matched the course the user was taking.

I recreated the Pimley & Pimley website in WordPress while preserving the visual design and interaction patterns from the Kentico version. I rebuilt the main navigation, page switcher menus, accordion behavior, and nested switcher content so the site could maintain the same user experience in a more flexible WordPress environment. 

To improve the course document workflow, I created custom post types and custom fields for both courses and lessons. I also built a relationship between the two so class materials could be managed in a more organized way. Documents could be uploaded in one place, connected to the correct class, and then hidden or shown from the main control panel as needed.

ESPA needed a refreshed digital presence that brought new energy to the organization while staying clear, accessible, and easy to use. I worked directly with the client director to design, develop, create, and launch the new main ESPA website along with a connected annual conference microsite.

The main site needed to organize year-round association information, resources, and member content, while the conference microsite needed to support event-specific promotion, registration details, schedules, speaker information, and attendee-focused updates.

The client wanted the new design to feel colorful, fun, and more modern, but not too busy or overwhelming for an older audience. Both the main website and conference microsite needed to feel visually connected while still serving different purposes.

The old site also contained a large amount of important text-based information that needed to be preserved. The challenge was organizing that content in a way that felt approachable, scannable, and easy for the client to maintain after launch.

  I designed and developed the main ESPA website with a brighter visual direction, cleaner page layouts, and flexible content sections that made dense information easier to explore. Depending on the needs of each page, I used switchers, sliders, and button-triggered modals to keep important information available without making the pages feel text-heavy. Alongside the main site, I designed and built the annual conference microsite as its own focused experience. The microsite gave ESPA a dedicated space for event promotion while keeping the look and feel aligned with the main website. I also created a members-only training area using Paid Memberships Pro, giving ESPA a protected space for video training lessons and educational resources.

The finished project gave ESPA a more energetic, organized, and flexible web presence. The main site became easier to navigate and update, while the conference microsite gave the annual event a dedicated platform for promotion and attendee information. Together, the main website, conference microsite, and protected training area created a stronger digital system for ESPA — supporting public-facing information, event communication, and members-only educational content in one connected WordPress build.

 Starting from a single homepage design concept from a discontinued project, I helped turn the visual direction into a complete 60+ page WordPress website with consistent branding, varied layouts, and custom content systems. 

The site needed to feel cohesive without every page looking the same. It also needed dedicated sections for six NJSNA regions, each with space for messages, bulletins, news, events, meetings, galleries, and regional resources. The backend also needed to stay simple for the client, allowing them to update information through normal WordPress posts, categories, and existing content areas instead of rebuilding custom page layouts.

  I developed the full site structure, expanding the original homepage design into more than 60 pages with matching but varied layouts. Many pages included animation, interaction, or dynamic content behavior to create a polished and modern experience. Using Meta Box, I created separate post types and Meta Box Views for the six regional sections. Each region page automatically pulled events from the same backend calendar, separated by categories, so the client could manage events in one place while displaying the correct information across each region. The finished site gave NJSNA a large, flexible WordPress platform that was easier for the client to manage and easier for users to navigate. Regional pages could display the correct updates automatically, while the overall site maintained a consistent design system with enough layout variation to keep pages from feeling repetitive.

The Oncology Pharmacist needed a refreshed modern design with a homepage that could better highlight timely oncology pharmacy content and give users faster access to featured articles, videos, spotlight content, and newsletter updates. 

 The site needed a stronger content hierarchy and a more engaging way to promote frequently updated information without overwhelming users. The design had to feel credible, professional, and easy to scan for a healthcare audience. 

I helped design, develop, and build a modern homepage layout with rotating content areas for the Monthly Oncology Spotlight, featured videos, recent articles, and promotional updates. I also created a timed e-newsletter subscription popup to support subscriber growth and continued engagement. The final experience gave the homepage a cleaner, more active structure that made important content easier to discover and helped encourage users to engage with new articles, featured media, and newsletter content.
